About the studio

Sirah began with one book, and it wasn't ours.

A friend wanted to make something for her husband for their anniversary. She had the story. She had the photographs. She hired a designer online, and what came back wasn't it; not wrong exactly, just not hers. We reworked it as a favour. When she opened the finished book, we understood there was something here worth doing properly.

Sirah means the telling of a life. That is all we do. We take photographs and half- remembered details and turn them into a story with pictures; the kind of book a child asks for again, and an adult keeps on a shelf where guests can see it.

We are a small studio: two people who are sentimental about sentimental things, with the design background to make them well. We use AI to illustrate your photographs and to help shape the writing, and we're glad to; it lets two people make something that would otherwise take a team. But the tools don't decide anything. Every page is directed, edited and signed off by us, and we take a limited number of books each month so that nothing is rushed.
